FAQ

If you have a question, you can look through the list below, you might find the answer you are looking for! If you don’t, do not hesitate to contact me.

  • You can start by an initiation course in scuba diving (Discover Scuba Diving), which consists of a short course followed by a practice session in the pool to experience how it feels to scuba dive. This is an interesting option if you aren’t certain you want to invest time and money in the beginner course right away. If you are convinced scuba diving is the sport for you, you can jump right in the beginner course (Open Water Diver) without having done the introduction session.

  • Fins, mask and tuba mus tbe bought from a specialized scuba diving store. All accessories must be scuba diving quality grade. For the fins, we recommend buying your fins with bootties. Boot-less fins are suitable for pool and warm water diving, but your might freeze your toes off if you get certified here in Quebec!

Fins, mask and tuba prices vary. As long as the quality is suitable for scuba diving, they will work well.

You do not need to have your own fins, mask and tuba for an introductory course (Discover Scuba Diving), they will be rented for you. However, if you are doing your beginner course (Open Water Diver), you need to procure your own.

  • Most of the theory courses offered by Plongée Fredo take place at the head office: 2-45 Boulevard de la Seigneurie Est à Blainville (J7C 4G6) on the second floor. It is also possible to do the theory wherever is more suitable for you if you live far away from the head office. Contact us for more information.

  • Pools used for the pool parts of the scuba diving courses offered by Plongée Fredo are located in the Montreal area depending on the clients’ needs: Montréal-Est Roussin, or Centre Edouard Rivest, Terrebonne, Repentigny and St-Eustache.

  • The outdoor parts of the scuba diving courses offered by Plongée Fredo can take place at multiple spots. The exact location will be specified by your instructor and will depend on the type of course you are doing. My favorite spots include: Valleyfield canal (J6S 2R5), Kahnawake quarry (J0L 1B0), Morrison quarry (J9B 2K4), Flintkote quarry (G6H 3H7), le Centeen Park in Brockville (K6V 1A6), et Ivy Lea camping in Ontario (K0E 1L0).
